Who is the Demon Slayer Muichiro Tokito?

Demon Slayer Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro is a slim, muscular young man with a low stature. His long, black, straight hair turns mint green as it gets closer to his waist. He sports untidy bangs over his forehead and loose hair with two clumps sticking out slightly from either side of his head, a pair of slightly shorter hair left down to frame his face. His eyes have a huge mint-green color, looking empty. He and his older twin brother Yuichiro Tokito both have similar features, such as eyes and hair. Muichiro lost his memory after a demon murdered his brother, and he also carried a constant, suppressed hatred and many more emotions within him that unavoidably motivated his future rigorous training.

Muichiro becomes an arrogant person who appears to be perpetually daydreaming and unable to concentrate on anything. He tends to think exclusively for himself and use intellect alone, never allowing emotion to guide him, which makes him seem completely disinterested and uncaring. He can also be impassive and, at times, obtuse. Despite his callous and unserious manner, he has demonstrated the ability to become serious when necessary and is loyal to his role as Mist Hashira for the Demon Slayer Corps.

The youngest Hashira, Muichiro, is fourteen years old, making him younger than Tanjiro. Tengen says in episode 2 of the anime that Muichiro only picked up a blade two months prior to achieving Hashira level. At such a young age, Muichiro has already developed his extraordinary discipline and natural talent into a highly competent Hashira status Demon Slayer. He is undoubtedly a kid prodigy, as was noted when he was one of the most powerful and skilled swordsmen in the entire organization. Since Muichiro is the Mist Hashira, his breathing style is known as Mist Breathing. This breathing style is derived from wind breathing which Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, currently employs.

There are six different types of mist breathing, plus a seventh that Muichiro invented.

  • First Form: Hanging Sky Distant Mist

  • Second Form: Eight Layered Mist

  • Third Form: Demisting Blast

  • Fourth Form: Advection Slash

  • Fifth Form: Sea of Clouds and Haze

  • Six Form: Moonlit Mist

  • Seventh Form: Obscuring Clouds

The seventh form, Obscuring Clouds, is the most powerful use of Mist Breathing since it disorients, defends with a misty shield, and attacks in a split second with omnipresent rage. To mimic the hazy appearance of mist, the user can make and manipulate mist. This causes the attack target to become confused, enabling the user to strike. This would also explain why Muichiro could dress loosely in order to conceal his high-speed and quick slash movements like the mist.

Muichiro Tokito Demon Slayer Mark

During his encounter with Upper-Rank Five, Gyokko, Muichiro's mark awakened first when his body temperature reaches 39 degrees Celsius, and his pulse rate exceeds 200 beats per minute. He has many red, mist-like marks all over his body, although they are most obvious on his face and arms. His offensive and defensive skills are significantly strengthened while the mark is there, giving him the strength to control a severely poisoned body and kill an Upper Rank by himself.

Additionally, during the fight with Kokushibo, Muichiro developed the power to view the Transparent World. This allowed him to see the muscles, blood flow, and joint movement of his enemies, which helped him hit the Upper Rank and keep him immobilized so that his comrades could kill him. The mark, however, is only useful while it is manifested since as soon as the mark vanishes, he immediately begins suffering the effects of his body damage like poison.
